Committee discusses outreach plan to boost awareness and diversify chiropractic profession

The Government and Public Affairs Committee discussed Strategic Plan Objective 3.3 on Dec. 16, reviewing a 2023 outreach plan that staff propose to update and implement in 2025 to broaden engagement with students, colleges, continuing-education providers and professional associations. Miss Walker said the objective now emphasizes diversification and relationship-building and invited committee input on tactics.
Committee members suggested regular board-member presentations to chiropractic students, targeted outreach to West Coast colleges and quarterly listening sessions or office hours for students and recent graduates. Doctor Perez recommended expanding outreach beyond California to regional partners where appropriate; Doctor Sandino proposed contacting student leadership organizations at colleges. Walker said staff do not currently maintain a consolidated contact list for colleges and will compile one to improve dissemination.
The committee also discussed partnering with DCA—s Office of Public Affairs and leveraging DCA events such as career fairs. Walker said staff will refine materials and share an updated plan at the February 2025 board meeting for further committee and board input.
