The Arvada City Council on Dec. 2 approved a resolution authorizing an intergovernmental agreement (R24-127) with Metro Water Recovery to relocate interceptor facilities and construct a new, larger meter structure required for increased sewer flows.
Jacqueline Rhodes, director of public works, said a sanitary-sewer master plan completed between 2020 and early 2022 identified multiple north-trunk segments as undersized and at risk. One of the highest-priority segments (NT‑10) lies on Tennyson from about 60th to the Arvada meter near I‑76 and is reportedly over capacity; staff said the existing pipe was installed in 1962.
The IGA covers demolition of the old structure and construction of a new meter structure to accommodate larger pipe and increased flows. Rhodes said there are no alternatives to constructing the new meter structure. The resolution passed 5–0 with the mayor pro tem excused after Councilmember Davis moved approval.
