Farmington — During the council’s roundtable on Dec. 16, city staff and council members offered a series of operational and community updates.
City staff recapped recent and upcoming projects: the Rye apartment groundbreaking and the Revolution Fitness project were singled out as major 2024 milestones. Parks staff reported ongoing work to flood ice rinks (aiming to open warming houses early in the week) and reminded the public of Open Door Food Pantry hours at Faith United Methodist Church (710 A Street) on the next day.
Public-works staff outlined tree-removal work (bids forthcoming for removal of approximately 216 ash trees and 122 stumps) and said the salt-shed construction is deferred to spring 2025 after soil corrections; the shed has been delivered and will be staged while corrections are completed.
Police and fire chiefs reminded the council the department will begin recruitment in January 2025 and thanked volunteers and staff for the success of Toys for Town and the holiday parade. Council members offered thanks to staff and farewells to departing or returning officials.
