Huron board adopts routine consent items and two administrative policies; several policies move forward on first reading

During the Oct. 28 special meeting the board approved the consent agenda (personnel and bills) and unanimously adopted two administrative policies (GDA24 and GDA29); other policies (GBEC, GBGA, JHCDE, KMI, GCDB) were presented for first reading and will return for final approval.
The Huron Board of Education on Oct. 28 approved routine consent business and advanced several personnel and policy matters.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included payment of bills, 13 new hires requiring worker's compensation coverage and two resignations: Lana Mosier (paraeducator, high school library; 40 years of service; effective end of 2025—26 school year) and Kevin Piper (substitute bus driver, eight months of service). Trustees approved the consent agenda by unanimous roll call.
On policy business, trustees moved and unanimously approved policy GDA24 (administrative assistant to the business manager for payroll and personnel) and GDA29 (administrative assistant to the business manager for purchasing/branding/design) on second reading. Several other policies were presented for first reading (GBEC use of alcohol/drugs/controlled substances; GBGA district involvement and political activity; JHCDE medical cannabis administration to qualifying students; KMI relations with political organizations/public funds; GCDB criminal background checks) and will be scheduled for second reading at a future meeting.
The board adjourned at the end of the meeting after completing all agenda items.
