Nueces County honors two long-serving employees and approves minutes

Nueces County Commissioners on Dec. 16 honored two long-serving county employees and handled routine business before moving into a workshop.
The court recognized Terry Gonzales, who is retiring after 37 years of county service. The presiding official presented Gonzales with a watch and invited brief remarks of appreciation; speakers described her as an “unsung hero” who worked in the courthouse clerk’s office. The court also recognized Ruth for nine years of service to dispute resolution services and highlighted the program’s volunteer mediation training scheduled for March.
Earlier in the session the presiding official certified a quorum and called for approval of the minutes for Nov. 13, Nov. 18 and Dec. 2. A motion was seconded and the minutes were approved by voice vote. The court then recessed the regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. to hold a workshop on draft FEMA floodplain maps.
The recognition was ceremonial; no personnel actions were recorded during the session.
