The Huron City Commission on Dec. 30 adopted a 2025 certified pay schedule and ratified a collective bargaining agreement with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3a.

Commissioner Smith introduced the pay schedule, saying it provides a 4% increase together with a 2% step increase for staff; the commission recorded 135 FTEs in city employment. "The increase reflects a 4% increase along with a 2% step increase, for the staff," the commissioner said during the item’s presentation. The commission voted to approve the certified pay schedule by roll call.

Later on the agenda, Commissioner Wainwright presented the city’s 2025 contract with the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3a. Wainwright summarized the changes: cost-of-living adjustments aligned with the certified pay schedule, updates to night differential pay language, and revisions to funeral leave. He said the contract had been reviewed and accepted by the union. The motion to approve the police contract carried on a unanimous roll call vote.

Both approvals were processed during the regular agenda and consent-type items; commissioners signaled support in roll calls and did not record dissenting votes in the transcript. The approved pay schedule and police contract will be implemented in the 2025 payroll cycle and applied to classifications covered by those documents.
