Huron School District Foundation previews Dec. 13 'Day of the Tiger' fundraiser

Huron — Maryann Trandell, director of the Huron School District Foundation, told the school board on Dec. 9 that the foundation will hold its second annual Day of the Tiger fundraiser on Dec. 13.
Trandell said the event will run hourly from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. with each hour sponsored and a $500 matching pledge available for the sponsoring hour. The foundation will promote the event on Tiger 95 radio and on social media; programs and QR codes at the basketball doubleheader will make donating simple for attendees.
Last year the foundation raised about $50,000, Trandell said, noting a large early matching pledge gave that total a boost. This year she estimated the foundation will award roughly $12,000–$14,000 in individual scholarships and described a long‑term goal of building a $1,000,000 endowment to produce about $45,000 a year for scholarships and teacher grants once funded and invested.
Trandell said students, alumni and community members can donate via a link on the Huron School District website and through posted QR codes at the game.
