Board hears progress report on high school addition; roofing and parking work next

The Tea Area School District 41-5 Board received a construction update on its high school project, with operations staff saying major interior work is progressing and temporary enclosures and heat are being installed to move finish work forward.
Speaker 10, presenting the operations report, said the south end of the project — including the gym and wrestling room — is already in use though a few punch-list items remain. On the north end, steel crews have finished a catwalk and are placing core flooring behind the Performing Arts Center; roofing and exterior sheeting remain in progress. "We're getting close," Speaker 10 said, and administration expects roofing and enclosure work to allow installation of temporary heat across the building so interior trades can continue.
Operations also reported ongoing HVAC installation, electrical finish work, window installation, and delivery of cabinets and risers for music and band areas. Contractors are scheduled to put down a gravel base for additional parking on the south side of the auxiliary gym.
The board did not take formal action on the construction update; staff invited board members to request tours once contractors reach appropriate milestones.
