Board hears budget and construction update; approves guaranteed maximum-price amendment

The Huron School District 02-2 Board of Education heard a general fund update from business manager Kelly and approved a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendment that inserts bid pricing into the original Pitts Design-Build contract.
Kelly told trustees the district is one-third of the way through the fiscal year and reported year-to-date revenue collections of $6,897,000 (about 25% of the budget) and expenditures of $7,405,000 (about 27% of budgeted expenditures). "We're one third of the way through this fiscal year's budget already," Kelly said. Kelly also reported that work on the construction project will focus on 22 bid packages and is scheduled to begin Dec. 2; he said Daktronics has been on-site related to the recently ordered scoreboards.
The board then considered a guaranteed maximum price amendment to the Pitts Design-Build contract dated March 15, 2024. Kelly said he reviewed the numbers and that they match the bid; the board moved, seconded and approved the amendment by voice vote.
The board recessed shortly afterward to enter an executive session later in the agenda. The administration did not provide a roll-call vote tally in the public record for the GMP amendment; the motion was approved by voice vote.
