The Montgomery City Council on Oct. 21 approved certificates of substantial completion that mark the transition from construction to warranty and allow the city to begin one-year warranty periods on several infrastructure projects.
City engineering staff recommended a Sept. 24, 2024, substantial-completion date for the Buffalo Springs Drive and SH 105 traffic signal — the date the signal was turned on and deemed functional — and the council approved the certificate, which begins the one-year warranty period for the signal work.
Staff also reported that the Montgomery Bend sanitary sewer lift-station generator had cleared a startup inspection and that a permanent natural gas connection was in place. Council approved substantial completion and acceptance of the generator and the broader Montgomery Bend Section 2 public infrastructure, setting Oct. 21, 2024, as the commencement date for the one-year warranty period; staff said accepting Section 2 will allow building permits to be applied for and homes to be constructed.
Council voted to accept the certificates and begin warranty periods; staff will continue to hold final pay estimates until remaining punch-list items and CCTV/video evidence (on separate sewer rehab projects) are satisfactorily addressed.
Next steps: issuance of building permits in Montgomery Bend Section 2 and continued contract closeout and final payment processing once punch-list and documentation are complete.
