The plan emphasizes data‑driven policing to identify hot spots, expanded training partnerships (including arrangements with the college law‑enforcement academy to exchange training for instructor time), a mentoring program and employee development, and researching progressive equipment and vehicle replacement procedures. Staff also described efforts to explore alternative funding methods to supplement the city's fiscal year budget and to coordinate with homeowners associations and community groups on neighborhood safety programs.
What happens next: staff said the plan will guide recruiting, training and equipment priorities and that the council will see associated budget requests and personnel updates in upcoming budget workshops.
