At its Dec. 30 meeting, the Scottsburg Board of Public Works and Safety approved a set of routine administrative items and contracts.
The board unanimously approved a fee waiver at the Train Depot for Purdue Extension’s private woodland owner workshop series scheduled for March 3, 17 and 24, after Emily Keller described the request and Tom Lewis moved to waive the rental fees. The board also approved adding two missed employee cell phone stipends to the claims list.
Jan Hart reported the SWIFT grant closeout for a $4,000,000 water and wastewater grant: engineers submitted final proposals and the final disbursement occurred Dec. 17, though one vendor check had not been received and bank records may reflect final closure in January. The board approved entering a consultant agreement with the Wheatley Group to administer required reporting for the EVARLS loan fund (annual/biannual reporting), with Tom Lewis moving and the board approving the agreement.
The board approved reimbursing the Electric Department $35,000 from proceeds of the city hall sale to the county. Staff explained electric fund records show the electric department purchased the building in 1964 and the reimbursement was to return those funds to their original source.
On infrastructure contracts, staff presented a quote from Nathan Baker of Vance and Baker Concrete to repair sidewalks on Cherry and First streets at $15 per square foot with an 80-square-foot minimum per section and a project cap not to exceed $50,000. The board authorized the agreement and allowed the use of 2024 funds for the work.
The board moved to approve claims as presented, completed signature and PO paperwork for fund carryover, then adjourned. No controversial policy changes or litigation actions were taken during these approvals.
