She also described a packet of local resources provided to clients, including Medicaid and food‑bank information, workforce resources and referrals to maternity homes.
Buffkin cited teen pregnancy statistics (for example, she said '3 out of 10 teen girls get pregnant before age 20' and that many teen pregnancies involve 18–19 year olds). She also referenced a 2022 Peterson Center on Health Care study regarding average pregnancy-related health care costs; the meeting audio and transcript garbled the exact dollar figure, so the specific cost was not recorded in the meeting notes.
