Council renews RouteWare contract to support solid‑waste operations

Scott Osborne, director of public works, said RouteWare was first implemented for the city’s solid‑waste operations in 2001 and has improved customer transparency, driver safety and operational flexibility. The proposed contract term is 12 months with four automatic 12‑month renewals (five years total); the negotiated agreement includes a city rider removing several standard vendor provisions and an 8% annual cap on price increases.
Osborne and another staff member noted the higher recurring subscription cost reflects inflation and additional vehicles added to the system. Councilmember Fred Chavez moved to authorize the city manager to execute the contract; John Hale seconded the motion and it carried.
