Argyle council approves ditch‑maintenance contract and authorizes multiple RFQs for engineering and disaster response

At its Nov. 17 meeting the Argyle Town Council approved several procurement actions intended to advance infrastructure and disaster‑response readiness.
Council voted to award a multi‑site ditch maintenance contract to the apparent low responsive bidder for a base bid amount of $282,832 and authorized the mayor to execute the contract after staff negotiation. Staff said the work packages include projects on Ben Boyd, Hickory Ridge Circle and East Harpold Road and that engineering and bid documentation were provided by Friese Nichols.
Council also approved issuing a request for qualifications (RFQ) for town engineer services to identify a firm to provide on‑call engineering, plan stamping and development support; two councilmembers volunteered to serve on the selection committee. Separately, council approved an RFQ to pre‑qualify firms for disaster/debris removal and grant‑administration services so the town can be federally reimbursed in the event of a qualifying disaster. Finally, council authorized an RFQ for a street‑maintenance engineering partner to support FY26 pavement and concrete projects, intended to help prioritize streets and prepare bid documents for up to $1.5M in asphalt and $250K in concrete work.
Staff emphasized these on‑call agreements do not incur cost until the town calls the firms to perform work or scopes are approved. Council approved the items by motion and voice vote on Nov. 17.
