According to the presentation, that package will fund two half‑time community use specialists, two full‑time therapists for students and families, and an additional full‑time licensed chemical dependency counselor at no net cost to the district.
Parasol also noted a recurring, matching grant from the Gulf Coast Texas Workforce Commission to support Westfield High School's daycare program for teen parents. The packet lists a total of approximately $2,250,000 in matching funds that primarily help fund staff and supplies for the program; the district described the grant as recurring and supportive of both parenting students and CTE student opportunities.
Board members thanked staff for including additional columns in the grant report showing numbers of students impacted and per‑student award amounts; no votes were taken on the grants during the work session, which served as a report to the board.
