PERRYTON ' The school board received an encouraging update on the district's recently completed audit and year-end finances.
Miss Marantz told trustees the audit went well and the district had only one adjusting entry to make. She said the district added about $1,070,000 to its fund balance for the year, bringing the total fund balance to just over $5,000,000. When asked how many months of operating reserves that represented, the discussion approximated that figure at about five months.
Separately, Superintendent Brown also updated the board on construction: a phase at Wright Elementary is finished and in use, another hall is being updated and high school planning is nearly complete with construction expected to begin soon. Brown also announced one personnel change: Laura Jumper has resigned and the district rebalanced the affected second-grade classrooms rather than post the position immediately.
The board did not take action at the meeting; staff will follow up on audit findings and continue construction planning.
