Board hears hiring, procurement deadlines and Pasadena lease renewal

At the Dec. 11 meeting the board received administrative updates on hiring, contracting deadlines and facilities.
Robert Silva, administrative services, said the agency hired two field employees that week and reduced pending recruitments from 15 to 13; four recruitments are in name-clearance and six had final filing dates in December. Silva also reported attrition of five staff statewide over the past 90 days.
Silva highlighted state fiscal-year procurement deadlines that affect planned contracts and amendments set to be effective before June 30, 2025: Jan. 24, 2025, is the deadline for IT services, licensing and maintenance infrastructure contract requests; Feb. 21, 2025, is the deadline for non-IT contracts or amendments. He said he notified impacted management teams to submit documentation in time for processing.
Silva reported progress on renewing the Pasadena appeals-office lease after a walk-through with the Department of General Services and the lessor; $5,000 in tenant improvements that the board had already approved for the budget can be wrapped into the renewal, reducing direct costs.
Mark Smith, information technology, said IT is preparing a release of CAMS enhancements focused on improving EDD intake data quality and first-level decision processes; some changes will be backend and not immediately visible to board members. He also said IT is scheduling interviews to fill two positions.
The board had no questions that required closed-session discussion and adjourned.
