The Ysleta Independent School District Board of Trustees on Oct. 16 accepted a donation of backpacks and school supplies valued at $5,000 for Mission Valley Elementary School, approved the sale of a small sliver of district land to El Paso Water Utility for $2,800, and approved districtwide intruder-detection audit findings following a closed session.
Trustees thanked Feed the Children for the donation of backpacks and supplies; the board motion to ratify and accept the donation was recorded as passing. The donation was described at the meeting as intended to benefit students in need at Mission Valley Elementary School.
On a related action, staff explained that El Paso Water sought a small corner of property near the Cadwalader TLCC campus for water and sewer improvements and that the parcel is not useful for district purposes. The board approved a resolution to sell the portion of Ysleta ISD property at 7980 Alameda to the El Paso Water Utility/Public Service Board for $2,800 and delegated authority to the superintendent or designee to negotiate and execute the sale and related contracts, subject to final review by in-house counsel.
After an authorized closed session, the board reconvened and approved the districtwide intruder-detection audit report findings as discussed in closed session; the motion was seconded and recorded as approved.
All three actions were recorded as approved by the trustees present.
