The Town of St. John elected its 2025 leadership and approved a slate of board and commission appointments at the Dec. 30 council meeting.
Members nominated and elected Mike Bobat/Bovat as council president for 2025; the motion for president passed by voice vote (recorded as 4‑0). Christian Jorgensen was nominated and elected vice president; that motion passed 3‑1, with one recorded nay.
Later in the meeting staff read the 2025 board and commission appointments and reappointments for multiple bodies, including the Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning Commission, Economic Development Committee, Impact Review Board/Committee, Park Board, Redevelopment Commission, Police Commission, Sanitary District, Building Corporation, Contractor Board, Tree Board and several engineering firms and advisors. The council moved to approve the full slate as one motion; the appointment motion passed 4‑1.
The meeting record lists specific appointees in each board (e.g., John Gill for the Board of Zoning Appeals; Nick Vlahos for the Planning Commission; Joe Berry, Chuck Pullen and others for the EDC; Robinson Engineering and First Group among engineering firms). The council chair said the appointments would enable the town’s boards and committees to begin work in 2025.
