Seguin Education Foundation reports increased fundraising, awards $67,000 in classroom grants

Nashwell said the foundation raised $119,000 at its Mardi Gras event — $15,000 more than the prior year — and that a segment of the funds ($12,600) was directed to support the Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center. He said $67,000 in grants were recently awarded to 18 teachers to support classroom projects. Nashwell also highlighted smaller fundraisers (including a 5K that raised $9,000) and ongoing donor support from H‑E‑B and other community partners.
The foundation announced a prize patrol grant pool of $97,971.30 for the coming grant cycle and previewed a November ‘surprise patrol’ grant event. Board members thanked foundation leaders and noted the direct classroom impact of grants.
