Land Use Committee approves Denler LOC release, extends special-use permit and recommends noxious-weed plan

The Will County Land Use and Development Committee handled several formal actions during the meeting.

Denler Unit 2 letter-of-credit release: Brian explained that Denler Unit 2’s final plat was not recorded within the required timeframe after rezoning to I-2 and the developer never pursued the subdivision; staff and the state’s attorney recommended returning the letter of credit (documented in the transcript as approximately $2,831,624). The committee moved, seconded and approved the release by voice vote.

Extension for ZC22003 (McMahon Farms LLC): Staff reported the special-use permit approved in 2022 required several building-code improvements and an elevator waiver from the state; because a prior extension had been granted earlier in the year and the current permit was close to expiration, the applicant requested a second extension. Committee members discussed whether extensions could be handled administratively in the future; the committee voted in favor of the extension.

Noxious-weed work plan: Collin (staff) said a resolution was needed to recommend the 2025 Will County comprehensive noxious weed work plan; the committee moved and by voice vote recommended the plan to the full County Board.

Adjournment: No executive session was held and the committee adjourned, with the next meeting scheduled for December 10, 2024.
