Dr. Pat Connolly, introduced as the historian laureate and founder/president of the Heritage Harbor Foundation, delivered a history of Quinn’s life and the political context that led to West Warwick’s incorporation in 1913.
Judge Bruce Morin, representing the Quinn family, provided a biographical summary noting Quinn’s birth on Dec. 16, 1869, his work as an orator and attorney, and his role in organizing West Warwick as the 39th municipality in Rhode Island. Speakers recounted Quinn’s early labor and legal career, his time in local politics and his later civic roles. The foundation said it had funded grants and published books through a trust that generates about $160,000 per year and has distributed historic and heritage grants to nonprofits across the state.
Council members and foundation representatives unveiled the plaque and offered copies of the book Fighting Bob Quinn and other publications to attendees; refreshments were provided following the presentation.
