The Providence City Board of Contract and Supply opened and recorded bids on Dec. 30 for several city procurements, then referred the packages to the City Clerk for review.
During the Section B opening of bids, clerk read four offers for a Parks Department backhoe loader: United Construction and Forestry at $148,400; Alta Equipment Company at $129,800 (net $124,300 after trade-ins); Milton CAT at $121,900; and 1 Nation Distribution LLC at $249,989. The board also opened two bids for the Police Department’s ammunition and supplies; TJ Morrison’s (Eagle Pointe Gun) submitted a unit-price bid and Jerk Brothers Inc. submitted a bid of $87,019.
The board reviewed a proposed five-year lease (with two five-year options) for city property known as Camp Cronin, 1399 Ocean Road in Narragansett, and agreed the item should be re-advertised. The Department of Public Works opened enrollment for snow- and ice-control suppliers; those entries will remain on the agenda until further notice.
After opening, Chair Helen Anthony moved to refer all bids to the City Clerk’s office for processing; the motion passed by voice vote.
The board’s actions now move the procurement files into the administrative review process; the clerk will return recommendation and award items at a future meeting.
