Unidentified Speaker (S3) and Unidentified Speaker (S2) briefed the group on preparations for the point-in-time (PIT) count. S3 said the office had taken 20 calls since the last meeting, three of which were from people identifying as homeless, and reported 30 names on the by-name list with nine people on the street. "In the last month, we've assisted 13 new households, and we're currently serving 48 households for case management," S3 said.
S2 clarified counting rules and schedule: the PIT-count activities will occur the evening of Jan. 21 and into the morning of Jan. 22. S2 urged partners to provide precise location and identifying details when submitting counts to reduce duplication before the state accepts data. "We just asked for details on it because they may have been somewhere else, and we don't wanna do duplication," S2 said.
Committee members noted operational challenges: volunteers have been lost from past walkabout/driveabout teams and staffing and funding pressures may reduce services come January. S2 asked for experienced volunteers to assist with outreach and for agencies to send resource information to be included in supply bags distributed during the PIT-count outreach.
