BERKS COUNTY, Pa. — Commissioners used their Nov. 13 reports to highlight community events and partnerships affecting veterans, education and philanthropy.
Commissioner Dante Santoni described local fundraising tied to No Shave November with the Reading Hospital Foundation (he cited $10,000 raised at one event and $27,000 in total), and promoted a Nov. 23 fundraising event at Craft 2700 on Kutztown Road in Hyde Park. He and the chair also described a public adoption proclamation event honoring judges and Sen. Schwank, and noted a Veterans Day ceremony at City Park where Will Tobin, deputy director of the county Veterans office, served as keynote.
Santoni and Chair Christian Linebach both referenced a visit to Penn State Berks’ manufacturing innovation lab (the Mill) and an ag career/job fair at the Leesport Farmers Market, where many school groups attended and county ag staff such as Kim Fees and Amanda Burkhardt Selle participated. Santoni also recounted National Philanthropy Day award recipients in Berks County.
