The Lakeville Select Board voted Dec. 2 to adopt a revised Environmentally Preferred Products (EPP) procurement policy, an update staff said is required for eligibility in the Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) grant round.
Emily, who worked on the revision, told the board the state provided a model template and the town's redlined draft adds missing provisions while removing outdated language from the 1997 policy. "For the upcoming grant round, they updated their requirements as far as what the town needs to do to be considered," Emily said, adding she did not see provisions that require changing current town practices. Andrew said the town already follows many of the recommended approaches.
Board member Candido moved to adopt the revised EPP policy as presented; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
Officials noted the SMRP grant amounts are modest — staff estimated "between $5,000 and $10,000" — and that adopting the policy preserves the town's eligibility for those funds.
