Council approves bills; fire chief reports low call volume; council recesses to executive session on personnel

Treasurer Mrs. Strecker presented the bills packet and confirmed that payment to Azuria Water Solutions was for the sewer and manhole lighting project funded through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG); she noted the payment was the first pay application and that the project is underway.
Councilman Kelly moved to pay the bills as presented; councilman Warren seconded and the motion passed with no nays.
Fire Chief Luis Correa reported four calls since the last council meeting: three fire alarms (including a commercial building furnace pilot incident and a pulled station at the high school), an apartment complex frozen pipe that set off an alarm, and a residential electrical-wire melting incident at a dishwasher that was described as the most serious call. Correa also outlined upcoming community engagements: the Christmas parade on Dec. 5, Shop with a Cop on Dec. 12, and fire-department Santa visits to schools and day cares on Dec. 15–16.
After public comment yielded no speakers, Councilman Vikram moved and Councilman Deal seconded to recess into executive session to discuss personnel matters; the council approved the motion with no nays and entered executive session.
