The subcommittee voted to approve the transfer of two vacant parcels on South Bridal Street to the Holyoke Redevelopment Authority for consideration of $1 each, a step officials said is needed to advance the South Holyoke Homes development.
Staff materials describe Parcel 7 (assessor map 029, block 8, parcel 007) as roughly 4,908 square feet with an assessed value of $22,800 and Parcel 6 (assessor map 029, block 8, parcel 006) as roughly 5,130 square feet with an assessed value of $38,700. Matt Maynville, identified in the meeting as a Housing Authority representative, told the committee the parcels are part of the next phase of South Holyoke redevelopment and the plan is to build two single‑family homeownership units (one on each parcel) in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. He said the completed homes will be full, tax‑paying ownership units.
Committee members asked practical questions about site condition and tax status; staff and the Housing Authority confirmed the lots are vacant and fully demolished, and that the units would be taxable once constructed. The committee moved to approve items 4 and 5 as a package and forwarded the transfers to the full council for a final vote.
The motion carried in subcommittee on a voice vote; staff will transmit the orders to the full council for final action.
