Ironton council accepts Perry's resignation, appoints Mike Pierce through Dec. 1

The Ironton City Council accepted Councilman Perry’s resignation, read into the record Sept. 10, and appointed Mike Pierce to fill the vacant seat through Dec. 1, 2025.
Pierce was nominated during the communications portion of the council’s Sept. 11 meeting and, after a second, was sworn in by reciting the oath to support the constitutions of the United States and the State of Ohio. Councilmembers welcomed Pierce and assigned him to the industrial and commercial committee and the public utilities committee to replace Perry.
The nomination followed the mayor’s announcement that Perry would resign effective immediately because of a permanent conflict with work availability. Council took the personnel action during the same meeting in which it also handled routine minutes, ordinance readings and presentations from city staff.
Next steps: Pierce will serve through Dec. 1, 2025, and assume committee responsibilities immediately. The council did not schedule a separate confirmation vote; the appointment and oath were completed on the council floor during the meeting.
