"We take research being done, at Penn State and throughout the country and try to improve people's lives with it," he said, describing the Extension’s mission to translate research for local benefit.
Howard highlighted an upcoming Second Saturday master‑gardener webinar series (topic: hemp), a local plant sale fundraiser run as a tri‑county effort, Shamokin Community Gardens tree planting, Union County Crops Day scheduled for Jan. 28 in Lewisburg, dairy team smart‑feeding programs and a statewide rollout next January of an Extension AI tool that will allow the public to query Extension content in one place.
Commissioners and staff asked occasional procedural questions about events and registration; no funding requests or policy changes tied to the presentation were proposed at the meeting.
