Warren County reports nearly 43% turnout in recent municipal election

Warren County election staff reported that 25,277 residents were registered to vote in the recent municipal election and that turnout was ‘‘almost 43%,’’ the election director said during the commissioners’ meeting. The office counted about 2,400 mail and absentee ballots and completed logic-and-accuracy testing on all 79 voting machines and printers in October.
The director said staff are completing post-election audits and preparing reports the county expects to certify on Monday. The office also notified more than 200 apparent write-in recipients to confirm whether they accept elected office after the race review.
Commissioners thanked election staff for taking additional steps to secure ballots and train volunteers; one commissioner noted this turnout is the highest comparable municipal participation the county has seen since 2005. The election director said the audits and certification remain the county’s immediate next step.
