Councilman Schlossberger said the proclamation was drafted by the young people in collaboration with his office and praised their advocacy and educational work. Students from neighborhood schools introduced themselves, described classroom and community work on pollinator habitat and sustainability, and were joined by Shannon Dickerson, director of operations at Humane Action Pennsylvania, who thanked council for the recognition.
The council moved and approved the proclamation by voice vote during the meeting. Members posed for a photo with students before the session moved on to other items.
The proclamation text, as read into the record, highlights pollinator habitat loss, the educational benefit of pollinator gardens and the city's ongoing commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
