During the in-chambers public-comment segment of Pittsburgh City Council’s Dec. 2 meeting, a speaker identified as Arlene described a family's difficulty getting the city to open a missing-persons investigation. Arlene said the missing person is the mother of the great-grandchild of retired Sergeant Benjamin Micalekaric and that family calls to authorities were not acted on.
Arlene said the family's calls and efforts to name-drop contacts did not result in an investigation and appealed directly to the council and city staff to 'make it happen.' The speaker framed the plea in terms of obligation to families with long service to the city and urged officials to follow up on missing-persons reports in that case.
Council did not record a staff response to this public comment during the meeting. Council members later noted a moment of silence for Paul O'Hanlon and scheduled follow-up administrative items and hearings. Family members or city staff wishing to document formal follow-up should contact the clerk's office and the Department of Public Safety for status updates on any missing-persons report.
