Griggs County commissioners on Nov. 24 agreed to try holding their 2026 regular meetings on Monday mornings at 9:30, after a discussion of members’ schedules and preferences. The matter was added to the agenda and debated at length, with staff asking commissioners for their preferences.
Several commissioners said morning meetings help complete business early in the day; a few said earlier start times (9:00 or 9:00 a.m.) would be preferable for their schedules. Sam (staff) said preparing the schedule is a lot of work but committed to preparing a draft for the commission to vote on at the next meeting. The commission reached consensus to trial Monday mornings at 9:30 for one year and asked staff to circulate a formal calendar.
Sam also confirmed that the tax/budget hearing will be at 4:30 p.m. and will be rolled into the budget hearing schedule. Commissioners agreed to revisit the meeting time if it proves difficult for staff or commissioners during the trial year.
No formal amendment beyond adding the item to the agenda was recorded; the decision to trial Monday mornings was a consensus direction with staff follow-up requested.
