ISG engineer: rail extension mostly complete; paving expected after weather delay

Ari Hoekstra, civil engineer with ISG, briefed the council on progress for the rail extension into the industrial park, saying crews "got all the ballast put in, switches and all that stuff." Hoekstra said the contractor Halstein will perform paving across the rail crossing but weather delays (rain and colder temperatures) pushed the paving start toward the end of the week.
Hoekstra said the project team is "shooting for the end of this week to start" and that the goal is to have the majority of work finished before Thanksgiving. The update answered a council request for status and scheduling; no change orders, contract amounts or new funding sources were announced during the update.
Council members acknowledged the timing and thanked staff for the progress report.
