Leavenworth County commissioners approve letter supporting K-5 KDOT improvement project

The Leavenworth County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a letter of support for the K-5 Kansas Department of Transportation improvement project and authorized staff to forward a signed copy to the KDOT secretary.

Mark, a county staff member, told the board that he had circulated a draft letter incorporating edits from Commissioner Reid and asked the commission to consider approving the letter so it could be transmitted to KDOT. "Commissioners, you heard a presentation last week from KDOT about the k 5 improvement project, and, I provided a draft letter of support," Mark said. Chair added that the board had spoken with "senator Clamp" and that a signed hard copy would be delivered once the board completed its action.

A motion to approve the letter was made by Mister Dobb. The motion was seconded, and the board conducted a roll-call vote; all commissioners present answered "Aye," and the chair declared the motion passed. The board did not attach additional conditions to the letter in the discussion that followed.

The board's approval clears staff to distribute the county's official position to KDOT leadership and to provide a hard copy to Senator Clamp, as discussed during the meeting. No further hearings or public-notice steps were announced at the meeting related to this item.
