The Hanover Area School District recognized Amelia Gaurinkevich as the November student of the month, honoring her academic and extracurricular achievements.
District staff presented certificates for countywide contests and highlighted the varsity competition cheer team’s regional placement. Amelia was introduced by school staff and noted for membership in the National Honor Society, leadership roles (senior class president, captain of cheer and cross country), community volunteer work (more than 50 hours with the township ambulance and other activities) and plans to pursue nursing after graduation.
In a prepared address, Amelia reflected on moving to the area about five years earlier and thanked teachers and coaches for their support. She said she hoped to “embody the kind of person” her coaches and teachers modeled and expressed gratitude to her parents and the community for opportunities at Hanover.
The recognition was included as part of the superintendent’s report; there were no public comments on the agenda during the meeting.
