Summary
At a reorganization meeting, the Hanover Area School District board elected Rick Stevens as president, filled officer roles, authorized facsimile signatures, approved financial and personnel recommendations including a salary increase for a special education supervisor, and appointed Christopher Slusser as district solicitor effective Dec. 3, 2025.
The Hanover Area School District Board of Education completed its annual reorganization, electing Rick Stevens as president and confirming key officer appointments and administrative actions.
Stevens was nominated for president, nominations were closed, and members affirmed his selection. After assuming the chair, Stevens thanked colleagues and the community and said he was “deeply honored to accept the role of president of the school board,” noting a focus on fiscal stewardship and the opening of a new school building. The board also received the resignation of its secretary; the board moved to accept the resignation and then nominated and approved Stacy Blake to serve as secretary for the remainder of the term.
The board named Jacob Hyder vice president and appointed Matthew Reddick as the district’s Pennsylvania School Boards Association legislative representative. The board set its recurring schedule, establishing the regular monthly work session for the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. and the regular monthly meeting for the second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
On administrative authority, the board approved a motion to permit the president, vice president and secretary to use facsimile signatures to enter transactions on the district’s behalf in accordance with board policy. Financial recommendations (three items) were moved, seconded and approved after roll call.
Personnel items were considered and approved by roll call. The board approved a salary adjustment for Alexandra Holmgren, special education supervisor, raising her annual salary to $85,050 effective Nov. 14, 2025; the meeting record shows recorded abstentions on some personnel votes but the salary motion passed. The board also approved Christopher Slusser as district solicitor, effective Dec. 3, 2025, following a motion, second and roll-call vote.
The board adjourned the reorganization portion of the meeting and called the district’s regular meeting for Dec. 4, 2025. The next regularly scheduled meeting was set for Jan. 13, 2026.
What’s next: Appointments, personnel and financial approvals made at the reorganization meeting take effect on the dates stated for those actions; the board will reconvene on Jan. 13, 2026, per the schedule it adopted.
