School board approves revised attendance, travel reimbursement and vacation policies

Attendance areas: Trustees approved proposed revisions to policy ADB (previously titled ADA) to avoid confusion with federal ADA requirements. Superintendent CJ Anderson said the policy largely mirrors state guidance and will be phased in; staff will return to the board with an updated variance application and other procedural elements during a spring revision cycle.
Travel and reimbursements: Trustees approved proposed provisions to policy DHF (employee travel and reimbursements). The policy had a prior first reading on Nov. 4; administrators said they made no substantive changes since that discussion and invited further questions from trustees.
Vacation for unlicensed employees: On second read, trustees approved policy GCC07, which was updated to reflect changes negotiated in 2023 and to align district policy language with the negotiated agreement.
Votes and disclosures: Each policy was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The consent agenda and other finance items were also approved earlier in the meeting; one payment related to Trustee McCarty was handled with an abstention recorded by McCarty because of a conflict of interest.
What happens next: For ADB, staff (Candace and others) will refine the variance process and application before returning the policy to the board for revision in the spring; DHF and GCC07 will be implemented per district procedures.
