Karl Marsh, a teacher at ELKO COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL retiring after 35 years, asked the Elko County School District board during public comment to consider compensation for accrued leave.

He said he was "respectfully request[ing] that the board consider some form of compensation for my accumulated" leave and asked they "consider a partial buyout of my sick leave, whether in a reduced rate through a year of health insurance coverage or other reasonable alternative." (Marsh's remarks were delivered during the public comment period.)
Board chair responded that Marsh had submitted a request earlier and the chair had chosen not to place it on the current agenda; trustees said any member could ask to add the matter to a future agenda and gave Marsh contact points — the chair, Superintendent CJ Anderson, or Clerk Baker — to initiate formal consideration.
