Guthrie board approves contracts and GMP to build new high school wrestling facility
Summary
The Guthrie Public Schools Board unanimously awarded bid packages and accepted a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for a new Guthrie High School wrestling facility, approving Red Dot Buildings as low bidder for a pre-engineered metal building and a GMP with Crossland Construction Company.
The Guthrie Public Schools Board of Education on Nov. 10 unanimously approved contracts and a guaranteed maximum price to build a new wrestling facility for Guthrie High School.
Board members voted to award Bid Package 13A for a pre-engineered metal building to Red Dot Buildings for $224,089, a figure the district noted was below the budgeted $260,002.60. Lane, asked by the board to comment on the bid, said, “this dollar amount for this line item was lower than the budget,” and that while this is a favorable line item, it does not represent the total project cost.
The board also accepted an initial guaranteed maximum price proposed by Crossland Construction Company and approved a corresponding amendment to the district’s construction-management contract dated Oct. 13, 2025. Dr. Simpson described the GMP documents as itemizing the approved bid alongside associated construction costs and management fees and recommended approval.
All votes on the bid award and the GMP passed on roll call, with the board recording seven ayes and no nays. The board did not amend the dollar amounts during the meeting; the GMP and contract amendment as presented were approved.
Next steps include opening remaining bid packages (the board was told bids for the high school wrestling room will open Nov. 19) and moving forward with construction management under the approved GMP.
