Gravette board approves monthly financials, personnel moves and a device exemption; tables two policy second‑readings

At its meeting, the Gravette School District board approved routine financial and personnel items and adopted a narrow policy amendment related to electronic-device use.
Finance: The board approved the monthly financial summary after a presentation of revenues and expenditures. The finance report showed October property-tax receipts of about $1.7 million, October revenue of roughly $2.35 million and year-to-date revenue near $6 million; the district reported a cash position around $7.7 million as of Oct. 31 and noted some operating funds running ahead of budget timing.
Personnel: The board approved employment of Marlene Post as a contracted substitute bus driver for the 2025–26 school year on a 245-day contract at step 11 with an hourly rate of $23.65. Trustees also accepted the resignation of Renee Brown (cafeteria worker) and the retirement of Sarah Bolduc (paraprofessional), with Bolduc’s retirement effective in January and noted as more than 18 years of service.
Policy: Trustees added language to policy 4.47 creating an exemption that permits personal electronic devices when a student is enrolled in an endorsed concurrent-enrollment course and needs a device to complete two-factor authentication; use is limited to the time necessary for authentication. Staff said the change responds to statewide ADE guidance and prior workarounds. The board also moved to table the second reading of two other policies (policy numbers clarified during discussion) until the January meeting. Finally, the board approved the second reading of policy 4.5.
Executive session: The board announced it would go into executive session to discuss employment and legal matters under the Arkansas Freedom Information Act citation given in the meeting; the board stated no votes were taken in executive session.
