Lenoir City Schools on Monday recognized this year’s Teachers of the Year at elementary, middle and high school campuses and unveiled a new T‑shirt the district will give exclusively to honorees.
Unidentified Speaker (S1) told the board the CNI department designed shirts “that will be given to all of our teachers of the year and new teachers of the year and only to our teachers of the year,” calling the shirts a new tradition. The board and school leaders then introduced honorees by campus: Holly Dickerson (elementary, RTI/intervention), Morgan Rollins (elementary new teacher), Heather Brooks (Lenoir City Intermediate/Middle School), Stephanie Eubanks (North City High School), McKenzie Bragan (high school Teacher of the Year, third year) and Julie Depp (iLearn, 29 years).
Unidentified Speaker (S4) described hiring Morgan Rollins immediately after an interview, saying Rollins’s “enthusiasm was infectious” and that staff brought her back from the parking lot and offered her the job on the spot. The board praised Heather Brooks’s 27 years of service and noted her classroom practice encourages student confidence in math; McKenzie Bragan was singled out for student engagement and for training other teachers on engagement strategies.
The recognitions included plans for group and individual photos; participants thanked teachers and staff for their work supporting students. No formal board action was required for the presentations.
The meeting record shows several board members and administrators acknowledged the honorees and encouraged community attendance at school events where students will display the work of their teachers.
The board moved on to its regular agenda after the recognitions.
