Loudoun City Council clears multiple routine measures, adopts strategic plan

Loudoun City Council voted through a package of routine measures at its Nov. 24 meeting, approving personnel and procurement actions, authorizing program participation and adopting the city’s strategic plan.
Council approved the City of Loudoun cafeteria plan for employees, which staff said had been discussed at a prior workshop and is required by the IRS. The council also authorized the city’s participation in the Tennessee Main Street program and designated a city official to serve on the Main Street Loudoun board.
On infrastructure, council authorized the use of competitive sealed proposals for removing two pedestrian bridges and replacing one with a shared-use path in Legion Park; staff noted the item had been presented at the workshop by Ramey. Council declared two Dodge Charger squad vehicles with more than 136,000 miles as surplus and approved putting them forward for disposition.
Members adopted the municipal strategic plan, with the mayor saying, “now the work starts” following adoption. Council also approved a fuel-quote report for informational purposes and heard a summary of several board and commission actions from staff.
Most routine items were approved by voice vote. The meeting closed its open session business and moved to an executive session at 7:20 p.m. for matters announced by council.
