Board meeting spotlights student service, arts and athletic achievements

The Cornwall‑Lebanon School District board opened its Nov. 17 meeting with presentations highlighting student and staff achievements.
Ryan Brophy, representing Cedar Crest High School student council, reported on recent student activities including an Oct. 20 powder‑puff fundraiser that raised just over $2,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network, the COLA (literature and arts) program with elementary involvement, and upcoming events including a Dec. 9 reading and a Feb. 14 'King of Hearts' dance.
Assistant Principal Emma Libo introduced students of the month — Connor Strauser and Abina Obubisa — and summarized their academic, extracurricular and post‑graduation plans. Coaches Drew Gates and Brandon Risser recognized state‑qualifying golf and cross‑country athletes, including Travis Furmansky’s state cross‑country championship and Elliana Schneider’s fourth state qualification. Dr. Brown presented Andrea Klein as the Pennsylvania Art Education Association Elementary Art Educator of the Year for her student exhibitions and school art show (about 600 pieces displayed).
The board recessed for 10 minutes following presentations and then continued with regular business.
