The Madison County Board accepted a $135,000 clean-energy communities award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) on Nov. 20 to evaluate facilities and technologies that could improve county energy use.
Evann Schwartz, chairwoman of the Planning Committee, told the board the award is intended to "evaluate some space and look at new technology to, improve" county energy practices and that staff would provide details on specific projects. "We are entering into an agreement with...to receive a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, NYSERDA, for a $135,000," Schwartz said while moving the adoption (Resolution 13).
The board approved the resolution by roll call; the clerk recorded '1,268 votes in favor' for the packet that included this item.
Next steps: County planning staff and relevant departments will work with NYSERDA and report back with project proposals and a timeline for deployment if specific pilot projects are selected.
