Madison County supervisors used part of the meeting to recognize local contributions and honor public servants.
The board presented awards recognizing Samantha Field for public‑history promotion; an official said the Association of Public Historians of New York State honored her for promotion and preservation of local history. The board also recognized a county historian (referred to as "Matt") for producing books about local veterans and local fires; the presenter encouraged members to attend an author talk at a local library.
The board read a statement and held a moment of silence for Nelson Halliday, an EMS/firefighter with 33 years of service to Madison County. A presenter said Halliday’s service and dedication "were unmatched" and thanked him for "faithful and selfless 33 years of service to Madison County."
The board also read a resolution of appreciation and recognized Wayne Perkins for 24 years of service; Perkins was not present and sent regrets. After these recognitions the board moved into committee business and later recessed to executive session.
