Commission approves $54,465 exterior repairs for CPE/CP building to stop water intrusion

John Eilerman, Raleigh County Public Works, asked the commission to approve exterior repairs for the CP (CPE) building after interior plaster and paint damage indicated ongoing water intrusion through brick joints. He said sealing the vertical joints, applying a skim coat and resealing the affected exterior walls should stop the moisture and protect recent interior repairs.
Eilerman presented a contractor estimate of $54,465.56 and said the work can be completed before year-end and paid from the buildings budget. "We want to reskin that whole wall ... so it will look better than what it is," he said.
A motion to accept the quote was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. No roll-call tally was provided in the meeting transcript; the chair recorded the motion as passed.
The project was authorized to proceed and Public Works will schedule the work and report back on the contract execution and timeline.
