The North Aurora Village Board on Dec. 1 approved a special-use permit for Dog Days, a doggy daycare with overnight boarding, to occupy an 8,300-square-foot building at 71 Miller Drive in the B-2 commercial district.
Nathan, planning staff, told the board the proposal would allow up to 38 dogs on site and employ roughly 25 to 28 people. The Planning Commission held a public hearing on Nov. 4 and recommended approval with two conditions: outdoor areas must be restricted no later than 8 p.m., and all dumpsters must be screened. The board had reviewed the application previously on Nov. 17 and returned it for final action.
After a motion and second, trustees voted to approve the special use; roll-call votes recorded affirmative responses. No additional conditions or restrictions were added at final vote.
The board’s approval permits overnight boarding operations in the B-2 district under the special-use authorization. Staff noted compliance conditions from the Planning Commission that the business must meet during operations. The Planning Department will monitor conformance with the approved conditions and any applicable business licensing requirements.
The board moved on to other agenda items after the vote.
